The Belfast Operatic Company
Belfast Operatic Company are pleased to announce that Ulster Bank and Antrim based architectural aluminium glazing system designers Metal Technology have been announced as joint sponsors of their historic staging of Titanic the Musical in Belfast’s Grand Opera House in April 2012.

The final Gala performance on Saturday, April 14 sets a theatre precedent by having its curtain up at 11.40pm, exactly 100 years after the “unsinkable” ship hit the iceberg which was to seal its tragic fate.

Neil Cooke, Regional Manager for Ulster Bank Private Banking NI said “We are delighted to be involved with the Belfast Operatic Company’s production of Titanic the Musical at the Grand Opera House.”

Metal Technology’s Calvin Wilson added “we sponsored Titanic the Musical with Belfast Operatic when they debuted it in the Grand Opera House in 2005 and we were also involved with their production of Fiddler On The Roof. Such a dramatic occasion as this centenary gives us the perfect opportunity to renew our relationship with this high achieving company”.

Chairman of Belfast Operatic David Robinson commented “everyone in Belfast Operatic is looking forward to staging this historic run next April and we are very grateful to Ulster Bank and Metal Technology for providing this vital sponsorship. We are acutely aware that such support from the private sector is not given lightly in the current climate so it is particularly satisfying for us to have this support”.

Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive of the Grand Opera House commented: “I am delighted that Belfast Operatic Company are staging this spectacular event in the Grand Opera House and that we are able to set this precedent of starting a show so near midnight on this truly historic occasion. We have released tickets for sale more than a year ahead as the interest in this show is sure to go well beyond these shores”.

With 2012 providing the backdrop for so much cultural activity surrounding the Titanic centenary celebrations, this landmark theatrical event is set to be one of the focal points for locals and visitors to the city.
